Compile your own Kernel for Ubuntu

You can modify and compile your own kernel for UP starting from the source code used by our prebuilt kernel packages. Run the following command:

apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r)

Then follow the steps provided by Canonical: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/BuildYourOwnKernel

Instruction for Legacy Ubuntu Version (only for up board)

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubilinux/up
  • Update the package database:
sudo apt update
  • Install the upboard kernel package
sudo apt install linux-upboard-lts-xenial
  • Remove the other kernel images
sudo apt-get autoremove --purge 'linux-.*generic'
